On a recent Cycling 360 Podcast we covered the topic of climbing and we stumbled a bit on the categorization of climbs. So I decided to do a little homework and to get our facts straight. What makes a climb? In the podcast we discussed what made a climb and we all agreed that if the ride contained a hill of a gradient of 4% or greater it should be considered a climb. We also agreed that while some hills may be short with brutal gradients, while difficult for most cyclists were not climbs just difficult hills.
